As I began to play further I realized that I wasn't as successful as I thought the first time around. This time around I have been more careful with protecting my cities with my armies and staying away from many wars. I played the game with a better strategy and I was able to make more positive things happen to help my civilization. I found it easier to be able to trade with other civilization because I was able to obtain more resources. Like I mentioned in my first post recourses are very important in this game and I made sure that I did a better job in that direction. Along with the resources, I built more roads between the cities to make trade easier. Agricultural was also very important and I did a decent job with obtaining some success. I believe that agriculture could be a big part of my civilization down the road because farming and food surplus could benefit the society. Without success in agriculture it will be difficult for you to keep a healthy and populated civilization because people will be without food. I used many tools mentioned Diamond's book in which he mentions that producing grain and farms helps greatly to have more food production. So basically this second time around I did a better job with my military, my resources, and also realizing the importance of food surplus. Aside from some of the positive things I did, I also failed at creating enough cities and I didn't do a great job with animal production.

TheStart of my Civilization
After playing the game a few times I am starting to do a better job at creating a productive and satisfying civilization. During the first few times that I played i struggled with making important decisions because I wasn't sure which direction i wanted my civilization to go. One of my main mistakes was that I was very aggressive with attempting to protect my cities and got into many wars with the surrounding emperors. I didn't have sufficient armies to protect my cities which cut off the amount of resources within the cities and I wasn't as effective in the wars. Besides the fact that I didn't have enough armies to protect my cities I did a decent job with building roads, building farms, and increasing the population. I wanted to become a very populated civilization to increase my economy and have more resources. Building the roads themselves were a great factor in creating better resources. Like Diamond mentions in his book one of the keys to building a great civilization is having productive resources. I was also very interested in making trades with other emperors but I had a very hard time. So basically what I learned from playing this game a few times is that starting your own civilization includes making many big time decisions that can cause your civilization to go up or down.
